My schedule at Riley Street has changed from Friday afternoons to the
1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 1:00-3:30pm.
Depending on enrollment, alternate classes may be scheduled at my home in Santa Rosa (not necessarily on Tuesdays).
Every alcohol ink class is unique. Each session both introduces new skills as well as practicing those learned previously. Through demonstrations and individual assistance, we will explore many of the techniques used in painting abstracts, landscapes, flowers, and other areas of interest. Some of the many topics will include:
• techniques for working with the vibrant and unpredictable nature of alcohol inks
• methods to “encourage” the inks to move and blend
• tools and materials specific to this medium
• color blending, value, composition, creating a variety of textures
Fees-
*Class size is limited. Priority for space will be given to students enrolled in the series.
Please contact Rhea (707 820-7432) to check space availability prior to class.
If Tuesdays don't work with your schedule, ask about alternate days for classes

B. Regular Supply List:
- Alcohol Inks- Several bottles of alcohol inks. At least a red, blue, and yellow. Riley Street carries both the Ranger and Jacquard brands. If you're buying individual bottles, you'll want at least a red, blue, and yellow. Jacquard also sells an “Exciter Pack” of 9 bottles for slightly less than $30... a better price than the individual bottles.
- Paper- Yupo paper (not translucent for now) is a synthetic plastic paper that is non absorbent and works well with alcohol inks. Alternatively, you can order Kirkland photo paper online. The matte side is similar to Yupo paper. Bring at least six 5”x 7” sheets
- 91% Alcohol (not 70%)- can be purchased in most drug stores (Raley’s, etc.)
- Small spray bottle (for alcohol)
- Small plastic squeeze bottle (for alcohol)
- Board- A firm flat surface to tape your painting to for ease of handling. This could be a piece of cardboard or flat plastic.
- 2 small plastic cups with lid (like for salad dressing in deli departments)
- Several plastic straws
- Several plastic coffee stirrers
- Several small, inexpensive paint brushes
- Latex gloves
- Q tips
- Paper towels
- Pipette or eye dropper
